Dear Sabine,
We are delighted to share the preliminary programme for Languages & The Media 2026, the International Conference and Exhibition on Language Transfer in Audiovisual Media, taking place at Senate House in London from 4–6 November!
We are proud that this year's conference is hosted by UCL, which is celebrating its Bicentenary – 200 years since its founding in 1826.
The programme brings together an exciting mix of industry insights, academic research, technological innovation and professional perspectives on media localization and accessibility, with sessions covering key themes including AI in subtitling and dubbing, accessibility legislation, emerging practices in audio description, sign language and SDH, inclusive language, and quality monitoring.
Alongside numerous presentation sessions, this year's programme also features a number of thought-provoking panel discussions, including “AI Dubbing, Human Creativity and Industry Change”, “Accessibility in Live Performances”, “Going Beyond Access: The UK’s Sign Language Content Journey” and “Practitioners' Perspectives in the Age of AI”.
Pre-conference workshops – Wednesday, 4 November Before the main conference gets underway, Languages & The Media 2026 will open with an exciting programme of pre-conference workshops on Wednesday, 4 November, offering opportunities for an in-depth and practical exploration of a range of topics:
